Valve added the option to purchase digital Steam Gift Cards 100 USD to its Steam gaming platform recently which enables users to add funds to their friend's account.

The Steam platform supported physical gift cards for a long time. You could purchase a Steam gift card in retail outlets and online to add currency to an account's wallet. The money was then available for purchases on the Steam platform.

The digital gift card works differently. Since it is digital, there is no need to purchase it in retail stores or in online stores before use. Another difference is that you cannot buy digital gift cards for yourself as you can simply fill up your wallet directly on Steam without having to purchase a gift card (or use a physical gift card for that).

The process is made up of three steps:

Select the desired gift card from the available selection.

Select the friend that you want to gift it.

Personalize the gift card with a custom name, message and signature.

Review the purchase and select a payment method.

Select Purchase as a gift

If you already own the game, Purchase for myself will be faded and unresponsive, since you cannot own multiple copies of the same game anymore.

Sending a Custom Amount

In my testing, I found $5.00 to be the minimum you can send, and $200.00 to be the max. Don’t be afraid to mess around and try different values, since there are still a few more steps and confirmation before you get charged.

Sending the Gift Card

From here, the process is almost the same as sending a game as a gift on Steam. You’ll be brought to your friends list, but you might be asked to log in first.

When sending a game as a gift, this page gives you the option to schedule its delivery. That functionality isn’t available for gift cards yet.

Be careful to select the correct friend. Nicknames you’ve set in the friends list are not displayed here. To help keep you safe, you can only select someone you’ve been friends with for at least three days. Double check you’ve got the right friend, then click Continue.

Your payment options are mostly the same as they usually are on Steam. Unfortunately, you can’t use your Steam Wallet funds to send a gift card. You have your usual pick of PayPal, credit cards, or Bitcoin. Choose your payment method, fill out the form, and click Continue.

Alternatively, you can try selling it as long as you have not used it yet. Try a gaming marketplace like https://www.igvault.com/Steam-Items , register and put up your spare key for sale there.
