Solution to FIx Google Chats Message Delivery Failure

  • I encountered the following problem yesterday when attempting to react to a reply in a group SMS message in Google Chats: "Message failed to send."
  • A retry button was present, but it did not successfully deliver the message.
  • I looked into this problem on Google.
  • Google gave me the greatest results it could find in its huge database, but nobody had found a solution.
  • I was able to resolve this problem by using independent troubleshooting procedures, interacting with my wifi provider, and contacting Google Support.

Follow these steps to fix the "message failed to send" error:

  • Modify the default SMS client. Select Settings from the Chats menu button, then select SMS. By tapping the SMS enabled button, you may choose another SMS app.
  • Leave the Chats. Select your Google account in Settings, then press Sign out.
  • Clear Chats' cache and data. Clear the cache by going to the Settings app, selecting Apps, Chats, and Storage. Clear data once it has been cleaned.
  • Re-login to Chats. Select your Google account after opening Chats.
  • Set Chats as the default SMS option. Select Chats from the menu in Chats, Settings, SMS, and Change Default SMS App.
  • As your SMS account, choose your Google account. Select the SMS account from the SMS options, then press your Google account.
  • Send your message again after rewriting it.

As you may already be aware, the Google Messages software is pre-installed on the Samsung Galaxy S22 range in the United States. Google Messages has Rich Communication Services (RCS), which provides it some of the same functionality as Apple's Messages app, in contrast to the messaging apps provided by carriers like Verizon.

Google Messages can allow lengthier messages with many more characters, share longer video clips, and provides extra capabilities like encryption because it uses your phone's broadband connection rather than a cellular connection. Additionally, it enables users to know when someone is composing a reply to them and receive read receipts. In other words, RCS is able to perform many of the same tasks as Apple's Messages app.

When Samsung revealed that the Google Messages software will be pre-installed on U.S. models of the Galaxy S22 series, it appeared like a major victory for Google. However, several Galaxy S22 purchasers on Reddit expressed their frustration with the app.

A Reddit user, stated, "I experienced the identical problem with my S22 that came Monday. I restarted, deleted my cache, and updated Carrier Services. Finally connecting to RCS Chat took a while. However, as you pointed out, it indicates that Jibe, not my carrier AT&T, is powering. My issue is that it won't chat with folks who don't have AT&T.

He said, "I'm going to try to delete this Samsung skinned version and install the Google Messages APK from xda's website. Simply said, I don't like the Samsung skin at all. I believe AT&T took over in concert with Samsung, giving people a poor app experience.

The issue is that users of the Galaxy S22 series on T-Mobile and AT&T will be utilising the Google Messages app's carrier-provided backend. However, there appears to be a delay in the transfer of customer data from Google servers to AT&T and T-Mobile servers. As a result, there are a lot of user complaints.
