A straw log is basically poly tube bag filled with pasteurized straw as medium for the mushroom culture to colonize and produce mushrooms. In this case we'll be growing King Oyster mushrooms. About 98-99% of the straw will be converted into food. The remaining material can be used as soil conditioner in the garden.. Virtually any cellulose material such as coffee grounds, wood, paper, cardboard, grass, leaves, corn husk, etc... can be used as a substrate.
